Celebrity Sighting
Frederic Fekkai Salon brings its pampered setting to SoHo.

Frederic Fekkai regularly makes the style pages for his hairstyles. And his sought-after styling products typically top the favorites list of the glamorous set. But the latest Fekkai project to grab the spotlight is the celebrity stylist’s newest New York salon, in SoHo.

“I was looking to create a different energy,” says the founder and president of Frederic Fekkai & Co., whose original New York locale is on Fifth Avenue, “a relaxed vibe where my clients can enjoy luxurious services in a setting that caters to the specific needs of downtown.”

Frederic Fekkai's new SoHo salon offers a pampered setting for its luxurious services. Natural wood flooring and dark brown banquettes add a warm vibe to the space.

To that end, the SoHo space offers extended hours so downtown divas can stop by whenever, for hair styling, coloring, nail services, waxing and make-up applications.

Located on the second floor of a Victorian-era building, the space embodies a pampered setting with dark brown banquettes with nickel accents, English butler sinks, ergonomically designed shampoo chairs and LCD screens showing abstract imagery.

Designers from S. Russell Groves Architects (New York) capitalized on the space’s second-floor windows to bring in an abundance of natural light. Styling stations arranged in clusters with residential-inspired furniture keep the space open.

A long communal coffee bar (with wi-fi and iPod docking stations) is made of solid walnut, while a nearby leather couch offrs additional places to sit while one’s nails dry.
